DUMPSTER FIRE SERENADE

Scott schuppert…vocals, guitars, compositions, and arrangements

David bragassa…vocals, guitars, mandolin, steel guitar, compositions, and arrangements

Currently operating in Richmond, Virginia.

Scott:  So, let’s say we get something together.  What are we going to play?

David:  Whatever moves us that we can shoehorn into a two instrument format?

Scott:  Sounds good.

That’s not only the Dumpster Fire Serenade genesis, it’s a fair summary of their manifesto.  Take a mix of original and cover tunes, and re-imagine them for two musicians.  Play some hits, play some deep cuts. There are plenty of typical acoustic guitar duets.  This is not one of them.

They play some of the standard acoustic guitar fare, but quickly found the tunes responding to “what if” treatment.  What if a pop ballad turned into a swamp groove?  What if a classic rocker got the rockabilly treatment?  What if a synth pop hit from the eighties was reimagined as a down-tuned strummer? They play some songs that no one would imagine a duet could pull off.  It seems passion is the main ingredient.

Once upon a time, Scott Schuppert was disturbing the peace in his neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, with an old guitar.  David Bragassa, in Richmond, Virginia, was doing the same thing. The Beatles playing on the Ed Sullivan show, don’t you know.    They spent years learning in band after band.  Experimenting with other instruments and genres.

Soon after Scott arrived in Richmond in the later Seventies, he agreed to join David  in a power-pop/rock outfit by name of Dirty Secrets.  This little sonic laboratory led to more opportunities to hone their craft separately in bands like Rocket 69, Bullfrog, Mudd Helmet, Octane Saints, Nat King Kong, and Beex.  Now they’re back together, doing things to songs that seem like a guilty pleasure.
